While pursuing his Ph.D., our founder, Bryton Praslicka, explored the possibilities of magnetic gearing technology, which could overcome the weaknesses of traditional mechanical gears.
Spurred on by a “mission-critical” assignment from NASA, he prototyped a magnetic gear capable of power transmission without grinding teeth or gear grease, but through seamless, contactless design.

bryton praslicka, Ph.D.
chief executive officer
Bryton dreamed of creating a company as impactful and disruptive as Tesla, but with a culture where people are the most important asset and values aren't just words on a website. He has a PhD in magnetic gears, eight pending patents, and 11 published papers, but has generally stepped back from technology and fully embraces his leadership role as FluxWorks CEO. In his free time, Bryton enjoys drumming, rock climbing, and spending time with his smokin' hot wife.
Kyle Maier has 13 years of experience in engineering, product management, and manufacturing, spanning industries like pressure control, downhole tools, consumer trailers, and valve automation. Passionate about entrepreneurship, he has long aspired to start a company. At FluxWorks, the small business environment energizes him and makes work rewarding. Outside the office, Kyle enjoys exploring Texas’s diverse landscapes with his wife and two children, blending adventure with family time.
thomas borum
Thomas joined the FluxWorks Powertrain from a background in Well Control Equipment and Fluid Power. He has six years of engineering experience, and joined the FluxWorks team to be a part of the exciting innovation and great culture that FluxWorks has built. In his free time Thomas enjoys traveling with his wife, buying new guitars, and not playing them because he’s too busy.
Chris Gomez, a mechanical engineering graduate, brings 15 years of expertise in new product development and legacy product improvements to FluxWorks. Valuing precision and problem-solving, he uses complex mathematical models to uncover innovative solutions. Excited to join FluxWorks, he values small companies as true drivers of innovation. Outside of work, Chris enjoys gaming with family and building LEGO models.
brad strobel
Brad joined the FluxWorks team after graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in Ocean Engineering and while pursuing a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoys mixing his passion for hands-on engineering solutions with his previous work experience from testing facilities and research and development laboratory environments. He is a proud fan of LEGO and loves going on adventures with his wife and two dogs.
Hayden, a master’s graduate in electrical engineering from Texas A&M, joined FluxWorks to contribute to groundbreaking projects. Fascinated by meaningful technology, he loves making things spin. Outside work, he’s exploring U.S. national parks (12/63), enjoys painting, printmaking, crafting lattes, and pursuing a written bucket list, combining creativity, adventure, and curiosity in all aspects of life.

Marissa received a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas A&M University. Marissa jumped at the opportunity to join the FluxWorks team as it reflected her values in company culture. With a burning desire to serve people around her and help other people succeed, she is excited to start her career here. In her free time, Marissa enjoys baking, playing pickleball, and spending time with loved ones.

Alex Lee helps FluxWorks customers turn motion into measurable advantage. With 25+ years in engineering and commercial roles, he shapes product roadmaps that simplify integration, elevate OEE, and reduce scale-up risks. As automation evolves, Alex ensures FluxWorks provides the right modules, data, and support to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and long-term resilience for customer operations. He is also FluxWorks's resident expert on golf and cigars.
rick collins
Rick joined FluxWorks with 20 years of experience as a controller and financial operations consultant. He has helped guide numerous manufacturing companies to new heights. Rick graduated from LSU with a BS in Finance and later earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix while working for the Department of Defense stationed abroad. In his spare time, Rick enjoys serving in his church, cooking, shooting sports, and spending time with his family.
